The STIHL HSA 140 R is an extremely powerful, robust battery hedge trimmer built for demanding professional landscaping and garden maintenance. Comparable in performance to the petrol HS 82, it’s part of the STIHL ALLPRO/AP System and runs on a 36 V lithium‑ion AP battery, delivering long working times, constant power, low vibration and quiet operation for use in noise-sensitive areas.
Designed for annual pruning and reduction work, the HSA 140 R uses a low blade speed and a double-sided cutting blade with 38 mm tooth spacing to cut thicker twigs and branches cleanly and precisely at a consistent stroke rate. Blade speed can be set to 2,800 / 3,000 / 3,200 rpm to suit the hedge and cutting conditions.
A built-in battery slot means there’s no need to wear a battery on a belt or backpack, and the tool is optimised for excellent ergonomics and balance, especially when paired with the recommended AP 200 S battery. It’s also IPX4 rated so that it can be used in adverse weather conditions.
A rotating handle makes it easier to work comfortably from different angles when trimming the top or sides of hedges of all shapes and sizes.
For reliability in tougher cuts, an anti-jamming function helps release the blades if they snag on thicker branches—simply release and pull the trigger again to reverse blade direction. A new gearbox system works with the EC motor to deliver high cutting force and rapid acceleration to the selected blade speed.
Recommended for use with the ALLPRO AP 200 P battery, with a typical working time of around 150-100 minutes on the recommended battery (depending on speed setting and conditions).
